15 Spirit Animal Totems You May Encounter (And What They Mean)

15 Spirit Animal Totems You May Encounter

I don’t know about you, but I love interpreting the symbols I see in my dreams. I keep a journal next to my bed and make a conscious choice before I go to sleep to wake in the night, sometimes I even set an alarm to awaken abruptly so I can see what symbols are in my mind to write them down or draw, for later for interpretation.

Our dreams give us clear insight as to what is going on in our subconscious minds and when we can remember our dreams with clarity, deep insights can be found that bring profound meaning as it relates to our everyday situations in physical life, as well as our soul journey in the eternal realms.

Spirit animals are important symbols that guide our journey and their meanings should never be overlooked. As each bring with them great wisdom that will give you a higher perspective of your world.

Here are 15 of the most common and most potent spirit animal symbols and their interpretations. A-G.

Alligator

The alligator comes as a warning to get control of your emotions and balance yourself, just as the alligator can dwell on land or sea you too must balance your polarities. “The Great Bear in Britain and Ireland is Arth, who, with her starry son Arthur, identities our beginnings with the Bear constellation, and the typical Seven Stars and Constellations. The Ainos, or hairy men in the Island of Jesso, the most northern part of Japan, trace their beginnings back to a bear and a dog. They say that the first human being was a woman, who, when the world was formed out of the waters, floated on the deep carrying fishing and hunting gear. She landed on an island, where she dwelt alone in a beautiful garden, which still exists although no man can find it. The loss of this paradise is connected with the increase and dispersion of the race, following the advent of a ” protector” whom she had permitted to enter the garden which was their Eden of the fore-world.” – Natural Genesis

Time and Space are an Illusion: Understanding Deja Vu

“The present moment is the only moment available to us and it is the doorway to all moments.”Thich Nhat Hanh

Could you agree that in every moment, you are your past, your present and your future self? Let’s explore.

Scientifically speaking, we understand that space and time are relative meaning that they depend solely on the motion of the observer who measures them. From this simple fact and for those of us who believe that our souls are eternal, it can then be understood that our future selves are watching us right now through our memories. Wow! Let’s think about that for a moment.

This means that you are already dead, you have just been born and every moment in between is happening in other dimensions of ‘reality.’

How is this possible?

If this sounds like a far cry from the truth for you, we need to first understand that everything is energy and energy can neither be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another.

“When we die, we do so not in the random billiard ball matrix but in the inescapable life matrix. Life has a non-linear dimensionality — it’s like a perennial flower that returns to bloom in the multiverse.” -Robert Lanza

As Robert states, life itself is non-linear, meaning that it is free from death and it is free from time.

And what is time?

Time is a tool that we created as a means to measure the space between our thoughts and desires and their manifestation. To put it plainly, ‘time’ is the space between your thoughts and the fruition of the manifestation into the present moment of reality.

So in one sense, when we talk about ‘dimensions’ what we are referring to is the observable space that separates our chosen individual experiences both pre and post incarnation.

Now what we are currently witnessing as we ascend into this new paradigm, is the acceleration of our own manifestations to a ‘higher dimensional level’. Quite frankly, the space between our thoughts and desires is shrinking as we become our past, present and future selves embodying a more universal, eternal consciousness.

Deja Vu

Many people have been puzzled by the phenomenon of Deja Vu, and this is probably why I’ve chosen to cover the topic. The ironic thing is that sometimes the clarity you seek, has been right in front of you the entire time.

At the beginning of this article, Thich Nhat Hanh, was quoted about living in the present moment. Now there are many people whom can attest to the benefits of present living, and many can agree that it brings emotional stability, healing, an increase in health and well-being as well is beneficial for energy flow. Now what we don’t pick up on as quickly, is the multitude of benefits it creates for our own spirituality. And to understand this, we need to understand that spirituality itself is defined as “connecting to something that is bigger than ourselves”.

When we choose to live a ‘spiritual way of life’ what we are attempting is a quest to bring meaning into our lives and when we connect, we experience that which is ‘bigger than ourselves’– finding the most treasured insights and gaining profound wisdom.

We do not exist in merely on one timeline or dimension of reality, our souls exist in billions of probable outcomes of reality and our minds explore each potential path prior to us walking the path. On the same level, because space and time are relative, when we find ourselves in a place in time where we experience deja vu, what is happening is we are remembering the memory.

In some cases of deja vu, your future self remembers this exact moment in time as something that was either fond to recall or regretful and hopes that our present self, will remember and change the outcome.

How can we sharpen our senses?

This ideology places profound importance on present living, because it is only in the present moment that you become aware of all moments, past and future and possess the ability to integrate them into your conscious state of awareness.

In conclusion:

It can be said that present living is the key way to spirituality, finding meaning in life and connecting to that which is bigger than ourselves.

Death is an illusion, life is a dream, and we are the creator of our own imagination.

11 Things Highly Intuitive People Do Differently

How many times have kicked yourself for not following your inner voice, your inner ear or just trusting your gut? How many times have you said to yourself “I knew I shouldn’t have done that!!”…. and how many times have you paid for it later? If you’re anything like me, you could say a lot.

And then there are those people who just seem to have it all figured out, well at least, for the most part. They seem to have that extra sense. Their tuned in and locked on and life seems to flow more naturally for them.

7e49529664b7248c68e296a63bc36a85-e1466106361976-636x381Yes, they can be aggravating for those of us who don’t always see the world quite so clearly.

Or for those of us who know the path, but just can’t seem to put one foot in front of the other and follow it with what appears to be blind faith. Many of us are still so accustomed to more logical and rational (right brain) thinking that we block out our own intuitive knowing of what we should do, making the more safe play in many of life’s circumstances.

There is one major difference that separates highly intuitive people with everyone else, and the difference is trust. Highly intuitive people know how to trust themselves.

They have an internal knowing that they don’t need to muddy and meddle with things in life. In fact, they understand that the more they interfere, the more they become a hindrance in the natural unfolding of life’s journey. It’s the way of no way so to speak, and through it, we find that life will always align itself with the experiences we need to find fulfillment.

11. Their Partners

A highly intuitive person chooses their partner not by looks, physique, material possessions or any other ego driven persona. An intuitive person looks deeper. Equipped with a built-in radar that pierces beyond to find what rests in their potential mates heart.

Quite often you will hear a highly intuitive person say that they chose their partner above all else because he/she “had a good heart”.

10. Their Careers

shutterstock_203246677A highly intuitive person will not choose one career over another because of a larger salary.

When faced with career decisions, they will choose the place of work where they feel the most connected to those around them.

They seek vibrational alignment and mutual understanding with their coworkers.

They want to work and create with those that bring them happiness and fulfilment.

9. Their Passions

Highly intuitive people almost always have a passion or a calling. They can’t help but be creative as their intuition breeds creativity, building upon each other. Creativity is always beckoning for an outlet and the more in tune we are, the more we are need of one!

8. Where They Live

Highly intuitive people require solitude and lots of it in order to rebalance and recharge.

Alike to empaths, highly intuitive people are aware of the energy around them at all times and are very observant. In tight living quarters, they are able to feel the energy of others and will quite often scope out their surroundings before signing any kind of long-term deal. Intuitive’s prefer living along side bodies of water, or wide open green spaces and when they can’t get their fill of the forest, they will bring nature to them, literally.

7. Their Friends

shutterstock_12314449Intuitive’s know themselves very well and by this wisdom attained they understand others on a deeper level than most. Intuitive’s will keep their circles small but are known to be very likeable and approachable to others.

Highly intuitive people are often drawn to friendships that will encourage their own personal growth and seek those who can match their level emotionally by mirroring themselves in order to illuminate the hidden aspects of their shadow.

Highly intuitive people will have learned hard lessons in friendships and will have lost many along the journey, all the while knowing that each served as a stepping stone in their soul progression. Intuitive’s aren’t afraid of these relationships and are thankful for the lessons they bring.

6. Their Body

I eat what I want…. when I want!

Intuitive’s are known to be ‘snackers’ and they listen to what their body needs in order to function at an optimal level. They know that great energy flow begins with taking care of your body first and intuitive’s know how to listen.

5. Their Goals

“My goal is not to be better than anyone else, but better than I used to be”- Wayne Dyer

shutterstock_199696376Highly intuitive people are not usually highly competitive or in constant competition with others.

They tend to measure their success by looking back to see what they have learned and how far they have come.

4. What They Value

“More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren’t so busy denying them”- Harold J Smith.

Above all else highly intuitive people value honesty. They understand that every single person on this entire earth is here to learn and evolve and they appreciate those who can own up to their own faults. They highly value wisdom attained and understand that wisdom can come from hard lessons.

3. Their Activities

shutterstock_335742965

A highly intuitive person will naturally engage in activities that will balance their energy.

They will be automatically be drawn to what they feel is ‘out of sync’ and will seek to rebalance themselves as soon as possible.

This will typically occur without a conscious thought process as they find themselves sporadically participating in outdoor activity, a yoga class, gardening, clay moulding, painting, reading, writing, meditating, or simply listening to music.

2. Synchronicities

From an outsiders perspective, a highly intuitive person can be viewed as someone who is quick to draw conclusions or someone that is always looking for meaning even in the smallest of synchronicity. But to the perceptive one, a highly intuitive person understands that life is created by our own imaginations. Our thoughts create our reality, and our energy attracts our experience.

A highly intuitive person will quite often notice these meaningful coincidences through rapid thought manifestation and signs from the universe by way of symbolism.

1. Their Dreams

A highly intuitive person understands that dreams are the gateway to understanding themselves better. As it is only by knowing ourselves that we can truly become the masters of our reality.

dreamThrough our dream state we explore our own emotional depths, we work out problems to every-day life situations, and we connect to a higher level of consciousness where we gain insight on our own soul called journey, life purpose and collective evolution.

Highly intuitive people may regularly look to dream interpretation in order to decipher symbolism and may even keep a dream journal.

So how intuitive are you?

You may have noticed by this list, that the purpose of this article is to illustrate that we are all highly intuitive, but only if we choose to be. We all have an inner voice, and we can choose to listen to it or choose to ignore it. Each time you ignore it however, life becomes a little more difficult. The path becomes a little more steep and little less clear.

So choose to listen. Choose to trust yourself and choose to always follow your heart. May your journey always be guided.

3 Main Signs of a Spiritual Awakening

3 Main Signs of a Spiritual Awakening

While our individual experiences may differ based on our own perceptions, beliefs and ideals, among the ‘awakened ones’ there is a commonality that can’t be denied.

An awakening to understanding that was once clouded by the smoke and mirrors of society and the puppet masters who pull the strings.

What may have started for you as a ringing in the ears or seeing repeating numbers patterns commonly known as synchronicities, has now catapulted you into a full-fledge explorative journey through the pathways of your own consciousness.

Some will have travelled the underworld, navigating the unconscious, others will have trekked the upper realms of spirit, or simply explored conscious thought process, but all of us in our essential quest, are seeking to activate what Carl G. Jung coined the ‘super conscious’ by means of exploring the three hemispheres, three worlds, or what is more commonly understood as the ‘three paths of shamanism’.

Upon activation and awakening, each of us begin our journey to solidify and unite the unconscious, allowing it to feed our conscious minds as we expand our awareness, forging an awakening of cataclysmic magnitude.

No matter your religion, ethnicity or race, beliefs or values, each of us essentially arrive at the few common realizations and this is how we can confirm and know for sure that what we are experiencing is real and verifiable.

1.Everything is connected

Bouts of bliss, euphoric moments of sheer happiness and joy. You may have felt so light you couldn’t speak you were smiling so much! Whether you astral projected or experienced an overwhelming feeling and knowing that you just can’t explain. A love for all things will have penetrated your being and deepened or ignited your understanding that “we are all one”.

A sense of belonging, a reconnection and care for all living things will have emerged as you reached the realm of upper clarity, dwelling in the true sense of self– the ‘I am presence’ of everything.

2. “You are consciousness observing itself”

In one way or another you will have experienced the feeling in knowing that you are not just your mind or your body, a clarity will have struck you like a bolt of lightning illuminating a deeper wisdom within. Understanding will have sprouted like a seed that has been planted, that you are everything in existence, and at the same time you are nothing. You are every star, planet, moon and galaxy. You are every tree, plant, animal and equally so, every human being.

You are consciousness manifesting itself in billions of different ways, shapes and forms and you have discovered the beauty in knowing that this life is an experience to be had, not a punishment to be served.  However, once we see this light of life, we also begin to take note of its shadow. The realization and knowing that in this world…..

3. There is a puppet master

Many awaken, to see not only the light but the shadow of the light. To the un-illuminated or enlightened, there is a ruling elite or oligarchy that sets the path and steers the course of the masses. These few, who are set to rule and watch over the many all the while feeding their own selfish desires.

Some awaken and fall into this fear, this trap, and so I urge you to fear not. Do not fall into the shadows of the light. With understanding and knowledge comes responsibility, so explore, understand and empower others with the knowledge you have obtained. Choose to spread love, not fear, choose to empower, not oppress.

How to Face and Embrace Your Deepest, Darkest, Most Unspeakable Desires

How to Face and Embrace Your Deepest, Darkest Most Unspeakable Desires

We all have thoughts we don’t share with anyone. Not a single soul. The thoughts that we try to separate from ourselves that are too ugly and nasty to embrace as a part of our being. Things that we think about that just couldn’t possibly have come from within.

Sometimes these thoughts are our shadow selves looking for attention and other times they are stemming from hidden hurts and unhealed wounds that we don’t yet have the strength to face.

To protect ourselves from coming to terms with these unresolved emotions, our main defence is to put on a false mask and hide our emotions.

However, when we stifle our shadow, we stifle our creative power, as creativity, is its gift when in balance. The stronger the light, the darker the shadow. So for your light to shine bright, you need to embrace both polarities and find balance.

When we begin to peel back our layers, we get closer and closer to the root of what needs to be healed and nearer to the real authentic person that has been hidden away and what will then occur, is the ultimate union of light and dark.

However most of us choose to relayer ourselves and cover up what we fear most.

Layer after cracked layer we build upon, hiding the hurts we have endured and while we continue to re-plaster ourselves: ‘you can’t build a strong foundation on something that is already broken’.

This authentic you that you are trying to hide is the inner child that is crying out for resolve, love, comfort and softness. This child needs you to face your deepest fears; the “monsters under your bed”, your demons and your darkest desires and take him/her by the hand and tell him that everything is going to be o.k.

This child in you needs to feel safe, secure and accepted. It is then, in this space of security will you find strength, security, humility, acceptance and above all love. The love that you have been searching for out there in the world, the love that has been inside of you for eternity.

The love that is yours to give to yourself and then share with the world, for love cannot be attained by seeking outward. True love is found only within and is shared with others. To search outside of yourself looking for love, you will only find attachment and need. You must love yourself first.

So how do we illuminate and embrace our shadow selves?

It’s time to do the inner work, face our ‘demons’ and incorporate our inner most thoughts and feelings.

In order to rise to a state of acceptance, humility and love we must first face ourselves. We all make mistakes, we are all the same, we are all human. There is no one on earth who better than anyone else and there is no one on earth who is lesser. What separates the strong from the weak, the good from the bad and the ugly, is acceptance.

artlimited_img313248We all have this shadow side, that hosts our deepest darkest, most unspeakable desires and when we have these thoughts we immediately become ashamed of them and try to push them as far away as we can. However, the more we “try not to think about something” naturally the more it appeals to us and the more our thoughts about it will transpire and multiply. The point is to not push these thoughts away because as we do this the likelihood that we will act upon them quadruples.

Accept that we all have this shadow side to us, our own opposite polarity of darkness and light. The black and white wolf, ‘batman and the joker’, the dark side of the moon, the angel and the devil and yin and yang– there are many references to this polarity of opposites. You can either dwell in ’50 shades of grey’, or rise to the light and embrace the darkest parts of you. The more you embrace your darkness, the brighter your light will shine. So accept your darkest thoughts and know that they are a part of you, but not to be acted upon. Life is about choices, and we can either make choices that will hurt others or we can have courage and make choices that respect and honour others and ourselves.

Have Humility.

Guilt, regret and shame are the major obstacles we will face on the road to inner strength, balance and acceptance. While sometimes it may be easy for others to forgive you, we often find that we are unable to forgive ourselves. This is of the utmost importance. We are never to be made to feel guilty or ashamed of anything we think or feel and if you have someone in your life that makes you feel this way, get away now. But still, we as we know, are our own worst critics and unknowingly keep ourselves locked in the cages of our own thoughts; beating ourselves up any chance we get, as if we enjoy the suffering.

Go easy on yourself. When was the last time you laughed at yourself for something? Do that right now and let it go.

Life shouldn’t be taken so seriously, the universe is playful, so should we be.

3 Reasons Why You Keep Attracting The Wrong Relationships

“We attract what we are, not what we want”- Unknown

The world is nothing but a mirror and until we learn this, we will keep repeating the same old scenarios in our lives and expect different results. This is according to Albert Einstein, the definition of insanity.

However, we are not unintellectual nor do we repeat these patterns because we adore the torture. No, we find ourselves in these situations because the root cause is hidden from our awareness and until we can illuminate this unseen aspect of our consciousness, it will continue to wreak havoc in our lives.

In order to get to the root of the problem, we need to recognize three critical things, all which serve as an ego mask in order to keep us from discovering the truth.

3.You’re shifting blame.

We can’t accept what we don’t recognize and so increasing awareness of our thoughts, actions and emotions will help us navigate through our relationships. With a little introspection we can turn these thoughts inwards and prepend our healing.

2.You feel powerless

It’s easy to fall into victim mentality, an addict for instance, may become an addict because using a substance may feel like the only way he or she feels they can assume power and control over their life, where they otherwise feel powerless. We can then assume that this would stem from lack of trust, which would likely stem from an unstable childhood or adolescence; an event (series of events) which caused a mistrust, which began as an unhealed hurt or loss.

Assuming control in your life then begins with recognizing the root cause of the emotional wound and how it has grown. This simple act of recognition brings the conscious memory forward allowing for healing to take place and the rerouting of neurons in the brain which act and react to certain stimuli and send information to other nerve cells.

As it is understood, it is these unhealed emotional wounds that have formed cycles of activity or patterns of behaviour and when you start to recognize your cycle, you can clearly see the repeating pattern of conflict in your life that has plagued your heart and mind.

1.You need healing.

Love your enemies.

It has always been said that it is through our toughest challenges we learn the most. Why do you think that is?

There isn’t a relationship that we will come out of, that hasn’t taught us a thing or two and I believe the best relationships are the ones that hurt us the most.

Sounds a little backwards right? Let’s think about it.

Nothing can exist outside of you that didn’t already exist within you.

Every partner that you’ve ever been with in your life will resonate both the healed and unhealed aspects of yourself and so, we unconsciously draw those into our lives who will show us exactly what is un-illuminated within ourselves, manifesting as our chosen partner. We then play out the relationship “roles”until we learn the lesson or illuminate what was hidden from us.

As we all know, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and so every person is a projection of our own consciousness, and the question arises, why do we project such hate on some and such love on others? As it seems, some are here to help us grow in love and the special ones, help us grow from darkness to light. The only obstacle? Having the wisdom to see it.

If you are constantly finding yourself stuck in the same old relationship patterns and repeating the same cycles, you are unconsciously drawing yourself to the attention of what needs to be healed, as it manifests externally into different scenarios and people in your life. This, I believe is why it is believed that in every moment, no matter how tough, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

By recognizing your cycle and finding your hidden root, this single action has an enormous impact on your life. A change that will broadcast and radiate a new energy, that resonates from inside of you of the greatest magnitude that will completely shift your life in a whole new direction

5 Signs Your Life is About to Go Through a Radical Change

5 Signs Your Life is About to Go Through a Radical Change

Sometimes when we think our lives are falling apart what we don’t see, is that they might just be falling into place. While change is not always welcomed, it is always warranted and often when we think that our lives have fallen into utter disarray, it’s because everything is realigning to match our true intentions and desires.

1.Everything you dislike has become unbearable

There is nothing quite like the feeling of irritability. It’s as if it comes out of nowhere like a mosquito in the night, causing you to itch until your skin is scarred.

When the little things in life that never really bothered you much before, start surmounting right before your eyes… know that change is coming. It has to. There is only so much negativity we can take, until finally the last straw breaks and we snap… into action.

2. You feel lost

We’ve all heard that getting lost is the best way to find yourself. Truly though, it sounds a little backwards, that is until… we can understand why.

When you’re lost, you don’t have a direction and when you have no direction, you have no desire. When you have no desire, you have no want or need of anything and when you have no want or need of anything, this is when your soul will speak.

While you may feel out of control, you are the most clear at this time and in the perfect disposition to accept a higher knowing of what your heart truly, selflessly and completely wants you to see and understand. This, then sets you on a new path, a radical change that may have been desperately needed and one that puts you into alignment with your mind, body, heart and soul.

3.You’re Coming Out of the Incubator

Have you ever noticed that certain periods of your life are completely packed full of outings and adventures, fun-filled with friends and family to the point where you feel you can barely keep up? While other periods are marked with isolation, introspection and near (if not full-blown) depression?

The length of these cycles can vary, but each and every one of us go through these momentum shifts in the course of our lives. These periods can be marked with catastrophic endings or heart breaking losses, all the while we already had an inner knowing, that the end of the chapter was coming and that it was time to turn the page and look forward to the next, long ago…

These shifts are alike to a heart beat that pulses, and as we navigate our lives to the beat of this drum we find ourselves cocooned and introspective at moments, and more open with the world on the “out pulse”. These cycles are needed as we endeavour and formulate our perspective of the world. The introspective periods offer emotional, psychological and spiritual growth while the outward pulses offer experience, travel and new perspectives to take hold of.

When you are coming out of the incubator period, it serves as a “mini re-birth”. That is to say, the time it has taken you to recharge, review and reevaluate in order to set out on a new goal, a new direction and a new life.

4. You feel scared, excited and anxious all at the same time.

Your incubator stage and healing is ending its cycle and you’ve gained a new direction, so what’s next? When it’s scary and exciting.. you just have to do it.

At this point you can just feel that something big is about to happen and the momentum is building. You have no idea what to expect, but you just know that you are on the right path and can’t wait to find what’s at the end of the tunnel.

There is no point in making any stringent plans at this point, as they are likely to be rescheduled or cancelled and you will cause yourself unneeded hassle.

Your intention has been set, but the energies are still aligning as the multitude of probable outcomes need time to unfold. Each of these are to be explored before you (the shadow) walk the choice that has been made by your higher self. Have patience during this period, stay open and ride the wave until your path is set. This is an exciting time!

5. Synchronicities

There is nothing more satisfying than a subtle nudge from the universe that you are on the right path. Synchronicities serve as these soft assurances, that your thoughts and actions are in alignment with your higher good.

Most commonly found when major changes are taking place are the series of 5’s that you will find showing up no matter where you seem to look. 5’s are the clearest sign that you need to prepare yourself, because you are about to undergo a radical shift that will shake you to your core. Change should never be viewed as positive or negative, it’s simply needed.

Foreign Aid Fraud: What You Need to Know About the Global Poverty Industry

Foreign Aid Fraud: What You Need to Know About the Global Poverty Industry

“Having a heart for the poor isn’t hard we all have that, but having a mind for the poor, that’s a challenge”. – Michael Fairbanks

Last year, we featured an article about child slavery in Africa. An article that exposed the working conditions of minors in the cocoa fields, and as to be expected the public response was filled with genuine heartfelt concern for these people whom suffer in some of the most brutal conditions on earth. However, one comment from a reader set my sights in a whole new direction and thus, this article is coming to light.

As they say no good deed goes unpunished and after extensive research its seems that “foreign aid” has become one of the greatest exploitations of the poor of the last half of a century. A lucrative scheme, promoted by celebrities and driven by social entrepreneurs that downright robs the poor and lines the pockets of the global elite. In this article we will explore, expose and shed light on why poverty will never cease given the current model of a “charitable donation”.

For many of you who have viewed the film Poverty, Inc. streaming on Netflix, you will already understand what I am talking about. But for those of you who are caught in the guilt ridden trap of feeling so privileged that you feel the need to give back, this article is for you.

In fact, your kind heart makes you easy prey, having your compassion for others unknowingly twisted and turned against you, all the while oblivious to the damage you are causing. Don’t feel discouraged, I myself fell into the same trap not more than a few years ago and this is why I am choosing to bring this article to your attention.

It has been 50 years since Africa first began to receive foreign aid, and each year it receives an estimated $50 billion in funding. This assistance has been implemented using the same platform for success, as the Marshall Plan, that stimulated Europe’s recovery post WWII. Since then, Africa as well as many other countries including Haiti and Ethiopia receiving aid face the same issues as they once did with no real stimulation to the economy or growth.

Over the past 60 years at least $1 trillion of development-related aid has been transferred from rich countries to Africa. Yet real per-capita income today is lower than it was in the 1970s, and more than 50% of the population — over 350 million people — live on less than a dollar a day, a figure that has nearly doubled in two decades. Dambisa Moyo, Wall Street Journal

By now you might be thinking how is this possible? You may argue that corrupt government officials in Africa are siphoning the donations and you would be correct in your thought. However, this is only a small fraction of the problem at hand and many other countries are experiencing the same troubles.

Paternalism, as depicted in the film has caused adverse and negative effects on the local economies of developing countries. When we see increased global starvation, a primary cause is due to a flooding of the local markets with free goods, which causes the improper distribution and eventual closure of local competitive farmers hoping to sell their goods on the market. Quite simply, you cannot compete with free and many farmers are put out of business when inconsistent dumping of surplus goods arrive in their neighbourhood.

“We thought we were helping” former President Bill Clinton admits in an interview on the film, “when we made this devils bargain on rice”. In 2009, Bill Clinton was appointed as the United Nations Special Envoy to Haiti, in hopes to “help jumpstart social, economic recovery efforts”. (source) In doing so, the envoy pledged to restore President Aristide and build back the infrastructure development in the country. Unfortunately, as Clinton admits, the surplus of imported rice flooded the Haitian market driving local farmers down from the hilltops into unemployment and further poverty.

Yet, surplus food donations are only a fraction of the problem with poverty in developing nations. As we know, economic growth lies heavily upon the working middle class and sadly in these countries complicated laws, lack of bargaining power and a disconnected people to mainstream markets in order to produce and distribute their goods and services on a global level, have caused these nations to become “helpless and dependant” relying solely the hand that feeds them.

“What the companies in the rich countries do is they lobby their governments and say they need to have protection from competitors from poor countries, so they block them out. First with tariffs and import duties and then ask their government for subsidy so they can produce more. Then they produce a surplus and guess what they do? The surplus goes and is dumped into poor countries. What we end up doing is destroying the local market and destroy the companies that we first blocked out of our market”. -Andrea Widmer, Co-Founder Seven Fund, Poverty, Inc.

And it only gets worse, according to the film mega companies in the United States and other world leaders then bid on infrastructure, manufacturing and technological projects in these countries and if there is a chance they will not receive the contract, they then lobby their government to subsidize the project to grant its approval, robbing local competitors of the work for their people. So who stands to profit here?

As the film notes 60% or 167 million of USA’s private contract dollars went to a single Washington DC firm and another 83% went to other DC companies, while .02% went to local Haitian companies following the earthquake of 2010. To put it simply, for profit companies are collaborating with U.S Aid to gain contracts through subsidy.

So what about all of those orphanages, those are o.k to donate to right? Think again.

According to the Haitian government, it is estimated that at least 80% of children in orphanages have at least one living parent and in Africa there are 48.3 million orphans south of the Sahara desert with only one-quarter of whom have lost their parents to AIDS. This means that due to lack of employment and suitable housing many mothers and fathers are forced to bring their children to orphanages to ensure their children’s basic needs are met.

When we donate to orphanages instead of helping to stimulate economic growth we are merely fueling the existing fire. In order to bring about change, we need to change the system of how we give. If only those parents had a way to make a living, their world would be a whole lot different.

“The system is broken” Timothy Schwartz illustrated in his book on the subject, Travesty in Haiti. Correction Mr. Schwartz, the system isn’t broken it was built this way.

12 Things You Should Know When Loving a Strong Woman

12 Things You Should Know When Loving a Strong Woman

There are those who like to point out that we live in a modern age. An age where women are allowed to vote, have equal rights and can work to acquire their own income. Many people think that because of the times we live in, that this has brought a new generation of strong independent women…..

I’m really not sure how or why this is being brainwashed into people…. Women have always been strong, this isn’t a new phenomenon!

12.You must match her level.

Strong women know that balance is key to successful relationship and they won’t settle for anyone who isn’t a vibrational match. Whatever she does, she gives it her all, and she expects you to do the same. While your strengths might not be the same as hers, she appreciates what she saw in you from the beginning and wants you to always drive yourself.

11. She can express how she really feels

12 Things You Should Know When Loving a Strong WomanA strong woman knows that there is no point in beating around the bush when it comes to how she really feels. Holding things in won’t serve you or her and she is able to tell you what is bothering her, no game playing.

10. She expects you to pull your weight

The last thing a strong woman needs is potato couch. A strong woman is driven, her goals are clear and she is focused. So get off the couch or she will leave you right where you sit.

9. She is secure in herself

A strong woman isn’t afraid to show her true colours and she is proud of who she is, no matter the hell she has been through. Because of this stability she has a tendency to make others feel insecure about their own path, and so you’d better have yourself figured out before you go looking for a relationship with her.

8. She will hold things for you

A strong woman, is strong inside and out. She knows when your plate is full and you can’t handle anything else. A strong woman will hold some of your emotional burdens until the point where she feels you are ready to face them for yourself.

7.She doesn’t mind being alone

A strong woman knows the difference between being alone and lonely. She has mastered herself and won’t enter into a relationship until she has overcome the “need for
someone”. A strong woman will choose you to share her life with you, and it is your choice to share yours.

“Don’t be the kind of woman who needs a man, be the kind of woman a man needs”.

6. She has strong morals and values

A strong woman has found the balance between logical thinking and following her heart. She is compassionate, generous and courageous. A strong woman knows when she is being taken advantage of and won’t stand for it, even for a minute. A strong woman knows her limits and stays true to herself ensuring that she doesn’t indulge in things that will insult her soul.

5. Her conversations are full of depth

A strong woman looks beyond simple pleasantries, and small talk. While she is naturally gifted at it, she wants to see beyond your words to look a little deeper. Strong women find intelligent conversations stimulating and can’t get enough when it comes to learning new things.

4. She isn’t afraid to be vulnerable.

5 Things You Should Know When Loving a Strong Woman“Vulnerability is the corner-stone of confidence”.  A strong woman is confident and this confidence has been manufactured by strategically placing herself in situations that made her muster her courage in order to achieve greatness.

These happenings would have left her vulnerable, as she awaited the response, judgement and criticism of others. A strong woman recognizes that it takes putting yourself out there in order to move yourself forward, no matter how many times you fall flat on your face.

3. She won’t stick around because she has to.

A strong woman doesn’t fall for guilt trips. She has a forgiving heart, but knows all too well that too many “I’m sorry’s” without a behaviour change is a clear sign that its time for her to continue on her way.

“Sometimes I’m sorry isn’t enough, you actually have to change”.

2. She respects herself and you had better too.

A strong woman holds the same level of respect for others as she does herself. Disrespect her, and you are only hurting yourself.

1. A strong woman knows when to be weak.

The strongest women I have ever known are the women who have completely destroyed themselves in order to rebuild from a blank canvas.

The strongest women know when its time to lay down her sword, take off her mask and let her soul cry out in surrender. A strong woman knows when it is time to cocoon herself so that she may undergo the metamorphosis and emerge from her chrysalis to fly on the wings of new life. A strong woman knows that in her greatest weakness, she will also find her greatest strength.

12 Things You Need to Get Rid Of To Be Happy

12 Things You Need To Get Rid of To Be Happy

“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.”- Eckhart Tolle

12. Regrets

Whether it’s a missed opportunity, a bad relationship, a choice we should have made or simply something that made us feel dumb, dwelling in regret consumes a large amount of our time and energy. It has been thought, that the reason we regret so many things is because we have an idealized version of ourselves that we wish to live up to at all times.

To put it into perspective, we all think that we are 100% good people and when we do things that don’t reflect the most positive aspects of ourselves, we deem that we’ve fallen short in some way. But, when we can let go of these ideals and embrace the gravity and reality of life, we then free ourselves from the illusion of “perfection”.

So embrace your dark side, it is where your creativity flows from, accept yourself both “good and evil” and find balance between the two.

11.Blaming other people for your problems

Each person in your life is a teacher. Each experience in your life is a lesson. Living is like looking into a mirror– every teacher is you. Every event and ever relationship reflects yourself. Although we do not consciously perceive this, at some level we all know that life shows us what we need to learn. Learn the lesson and move on. If you didn’t learn the lesson the first time, it comes back around as a new experience a new person and a new circumstance. It comes right back and lands in your lap again, and says, “here… deal with it”- Excerpt from Ether Into the Nemesis

When we blame others for our problems we are shifting the attention away from ourselves and avoiding our own healing. The more we avoid ourselves the larger our problems become and the more we fall into “victim mentality”which can be a very troubling situation.

10. Victim Mentality

Alan Watts, believed that you always have two choices, you can either define yourself as a victim of the world, or you can come to understand that you are the world.

When we understand that everything we see around us, including our relationships, our homes, standard of living, the clothes we wear– everything, is an absolute reflection of our inner world, we see how much healing we need to accomplish. If your life is a mess, you are in an unhappy marriage or a dead-end career we should take note that something is off-balance inside.

When we are out of balance, we feel like we have no control over our circumstances and we end up repeating the same patterns without consciously understanding why we do it. This is why so many people don’t know how to help themselves.

MTMzMjgyNTA4NTM1MDExODA2It’s too difficult to determine what the root cause of, or where the beginning of the cycle started.

By making the unconscious conscious and illuminating the hidden aspects of our minds we are able to bring unresolved memories forward for healing and release.

So look around you and find all of things in your life that you are completely fed up with. Find the things that insult your soul, and know that this is where your healing needs to happen.

9. Judgements

“Life is a mirror and will reflect back to thinker what he thinks into it” – Ernest Holmes

Whether it is a negative judgement we hold about ourselves or a judgement we place on another, judgements of any kind have the same root cause.

Each time you judge you are meeting an aspect of your own shadow. So if you insult someone else, turn those words back around, because what you just said, is exactly what you need to heal, accept and alchemize within you. When you are hard on yourself, it means that you’re not comfortable in your own skin and you lack self-acceptance. When we judge, not only are we bringing forward an aspect of ourselves we are reflecting our own perceptions into reality. As mentioned before it’s all about healing.

8. The need to always be right

Feeling like we always need to be right, stems from lack of trust and the need to feel safe. By establishing dominance over others we feel secure. If you are always right, it means that someone else always has to be wrong and this can be an ego boost.

12 Signs You're Disrespecting Yourself (and How to Stop) When we feel that we are right in our judgements it makes us feel strong and secure and when we are wrong we have a tendency to feel insecure, deficient and even fearful.

The ego dominates the “I vs You” realm of being a learned behaviour of separateness, but when we can release the need to always be right we find a path to inner peace.

7. FEAR

How many times can you recognize every day, an action taken by you stemming from fear-based motivation? Some of them can be tricky to recognize, believe me I know. It creeps in when you are least expecting it, probing for a reaction.  Causing you to take misguided action, more commonly known as “karma”. Fear is the quickest derailment from your path to happiness and fulfillment. So when it comes knocking… answer the door with love.

6. All of that extra “crap”

Wanderlusts and minimalists swear by it. We just don’t need all of that extra “stuff”. Recent studies have shown that real happiness and contentment comes from life experiences as opposed to material objects. Yet, we all seem to line our houses with the latest fad on the market. Why not switch it up and see how you feel. The next time you are about to drop a wad on something you are going to throw out in a few years anyways, trade it in for an experience of a lifetime and make some memories.

5. GUILT

I have written about the debilitating effects of guilt so often that I think I will write until my face is blue. Next to fear, guilt is numero uno on my list of emotions that suck the life right out of your soul. They are the two best ways to control a population and the two best ways to keep you locked into your own suffering.

black-and-white-wolfThere are no wrongs and there are no rights. You don’t need to hold yourself up to anyone else’s standard, nor your own. We are both dark and light, yin and yang, and if you starve your black wolf he will bite you when you least expect it. Dark is not evil. Dark energy is merely hidden influences which must come to light (enlightenment).

You must learn how to feed your wolves. Balance is key.

4. Limited beliefs

We like to say that we are all pretty open-minded. However, programmed behaviour of the way things are and ought to be, keep us locked into self-limiting beliefs of how far we can fly. Everything is possible, you just need to believe that it is. So think bigger!! The sky is not the limit, your mind is….

3. Worrying

Worrying and over thinking are caused by lack of trust. When we don’ trust ourselves its hard to trust the world around us.

12 Things You Need to Get Rid Of To Be HappyWe want everything to work out exactly as we foresee it and will analyze every single detail and go over it in our minds a thousands times. All of this becomes an act of resistance to the unconscious desires that are steering our course, and when we let go of the need for control we trust more fully in the process.

Your unconscious will lead you into every situation you need, to fulfill the healing that is required for you to break free.

Trust yourself, you got this!

2. Resistance to Change

Learning to love without attachment is the hardest lesson in life. Things come and go and nothing will ever stay the same. If we cling to the old and reject the new we miss out on opportunities that are knocking and the fruits will spoil before we can pick them.

The truth is, we do not know what the future will bring and we cannot perceive to understand the consequences of each action and reaction, therefore we must love without attachment, live without expectation and perceive without judgement to find happiness.

1.Expecting other people will do it for you

No one can change your life for you, you have to do it on your own. Introspection becomes key and as always the most important thing above all…. know thyself.

“Happiness is an inside job, don’t assign anyone else that much power over your life”- Mandy Hale

How to Overcome Victim Mentality

How to Overcome Victim Mentality

Each person in your life is a teacher. Each experience in your life is a lesson. Living is like looking into a mirror– every teacher is you. Every event and ever relationship reflects yourself.

Although we do not consciously perceive this, at some level we all know that life shows us what we need to learn. Learn the lesson and move on. If you didn’t learn the lesson the first time, it comes back around as a new experience a new person and a new circumstance. When we blame others for our problems we shift the attention away from ourselves and avoid our own healing. The more we avoid ourselves, the larger our problems become and the more we fall into “victim mentality”which can be a very troubling situation.

We all have two choices, you can either “define yourself as a victim of the world, or you can come to understand that you are the world.” – Alan Watts

When we understand that everything we see around us, including our relationships, our homes, standard of living, the clothes we wear– everything, is an absolute reflection of our inner world, we are able to clearly determine the level of healing that is required. If your life is a mess, you are in an unhappy marriage, or career we should take note that something is off-balance inside.

When we are out of balance, we feel like we have no control over our circumstances and we end up repeating the same patterns without consciously understanding why.

This is why so many people don’t know how to help themselves. They can’t determine what the root cause of or where the beginning of the cycle started.

For instance, a child who was abused at a young age may have well forgotten the ordeal and yet, will find themselves in a relationship when they are older which represents the wound of the childhood trauma. He will seek out the same type of relationship over and over and never understand why he continues to make the same “wrong choices”.

The reason why we repeat these cycles is because we unconsciously draw ourselves to the attention of what needs to be healed as it manifests externally into different scenarios and people in our lives. This is why it is believed that in every moment no matter how tough, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

When we can make the unconscious-conscious and illuminate the hidden aspects of our minds, we are able to bring unresolved memories forward for healing and release, thereby changing our outer world to match our inner and life becomes lighter. In doing so we free ourselves from the loop or cycle that has been plaguing our hearts and minds for far too long and the stagnant energy that these memories have held begin to recycle themselves into positive new energy.

So look around you and find all of things in your life that you are completely fed up with. Find the things that insult your soul, and know that this is where your healing needs start.

10 Strong Signs You’ve Found Someone From Your Soul Group

10 Strong Signs You've Met Someone From Your Soul Group

Soul groups incarnate together with a specific task, a mission to uphold and when we connect with each of them, we collect a piece of the puzzle.

Soul groups may also incarnate with the purpose of helping each other wake up. To break through the veil and release the illusion of separateness and each soul group works together to achieve this. It is up to each member to uphold their duty to serve each other.

When you find a member of your soul group… just know that your life is about to go through some radical changes, and major transformations that serve your higher good.

Here are the strongest signs that you should pay attention to:

10. They strengthen your intuition.

When you spend time with someone from your soul group, your heart chakra begins to activate due to the harmonious subtle energy exchange. No matter the words spoken, you will feel what they are thinking from the heart. Words become obsolete, as if you don’t even need to speak as most communication is on the energetic intuitive level.

9. Immediate Connection

A member of your soul group will resonate with you immediately, you will feel comfortable and secure and will recognize their energy signature.

8. It’s easy to forgive

As much as we all like to say that we can forgive quickly, sometimes it takes time to forgive others for their transgressions. This because, it’s harder to understand the intentions of others whom we don’t connect with as deeply as we do our soul group.

We can forgive members of our soul group more quickly because we already “exist inside of their heart”. We understand the intentions behind their words, and the motives behind their actions.

7. Nothing is off-limits

You aren’t afraid to say how you really feel to each other and you are able to be completely authentic around them. Those goofy voices you make when you are alone at home or the silly things you did when you were a kid that you thought were funny, will come out around people from your soul group. You’re comfortable enough to lay it all out on the table. What you think is funny, they think is funny too.

6. They mirror you.

Every member of your soul group will bring out certain aspects of yourself. Some will bring out positive hidden traits and qualities that you had long forgotten, while others will serve as your guide in illuminating your darker aspects and hidden influences that need to be brought forward for healing.hippie-chickies

5. You just can’t get enough.

Spending time with members of your soul group gives you boundless amounts of energy. You feel like you are resonating so high you could fly to the moon, everything is possible. There is always an equal exchange of energy and you never feel drained.

4. Programmed similarities

The closest members of a soul group will share similar upbringings. You may have been raised in the same religion, ethnicity or family profession. All which promote similar growth that aligns with the overall mission of the group.

3. You don’t manipulate each other

Soul groups aren’t ferociously competitive and if they are its friendly fire. No member aims to “one up” the other or win the race. Each member takes pleasure in seeing the others succeed in all of their goals. Soul groups have no need to manipulate another in order to gain supremacy, the entire purpose of the group is harmony.

2. Timing is everything

Unlike a twin flame, where the timing can be off “the first go around”, your soul group comes in divine timing. They are there exactly when you feel you have completely given up hope, lost your way or are questioning everything. Your soul group can also come as a complete surprise, one that you might not have been even looking for. But when they leave…

1.They serve as a catalyst

Arguably, the majority of spiritual awakenings come after an intense amount of pain and suffering.

Serving as your personal catalyst for rebirth, spiritual awakening and evolution of consciousness, the departure of your soul group is the most excruciating pain you will ever feel. Alike to falling into the pits of utter darkness, with no bottom…

Yet, it’s all exactly according to scale. The darkness you feel, is the deep layers of your own emotional karma and this intense separation conjures the entirety of all that is to be healed. As healing, is the only path to freedom of spirit.
